Michael D. Roberts (Michael Dee)
I created Take the Cake Productions back in 2012. Since then I have worked on some exciting web-based programs including Scariest Places, Merrick Alora's Ghost Towns and Morbid. I also work alongside business across the North West, creating bespoke video production.
My recent work has been with Alfies Wine Bar & Bistro, Stefano De Blasio Kitchens & Interiors and Wirral Society of the Blind and Partially Sighted. I really enjoy creating media for clients. It's something I feel really passionate about.
Back in 2007, myself (Michael) and Steve Colins decided to write a sitcom based around a brother and sister who inherited an unwanted family business. The name Take the Cake came from an original draft of that idea and soon became the foundation of a production company that would go on to produce online comedy and showcase up and coming talent from across the North West.
Morbid was the first project to be written for Take the Cake and was soon to be filed away in an attic for 10 years until it was then ready to be produced. Since then, Take the Cake, has been working hard at producing online comedy and working with some great performers.
Scariest Places was to become the companies first major project that would really put the production companies name out to a wide audience. The show was a spoof of the hit tv series Most Haunted and followed the lives of Annette Pielding and Merrick Alora. Each episode received a whopping 5,000 hits on youtube.
Scariest Places came to an end in mid 2015 and that lead to a two part follow up series in 2016 called Merrick Alora's Ghost Towns.
Since then Take the Cake has received a great fanbase with people from all over the world watching and engaging in our content.
But 2018 is proving to be a very exciting time for everyone at Take the Cake as we work hard on producing the show that created this comedy production company. We went back to the drawing board and began working on Morbid an independent sitcom based in a funeral directors. A show idea that has spent a century in the attic has finally come to fruition.
